So, there was this one coupon . . .

There are not many people who would take pictures of their stack of toilet paper. Aren't you glad you know me :)

Potatoes 2009

This is what they looked like when we first planted them. They did go down a bit, but in the end I decided that it was too much on top. So I didn't do as much this year.

I didn't think to get my camera until we got to this point. I wish I had taken before pictures. Through the whole season I covered it mostly with hay. On the right you can sort of see how we had plants breaking through everywhere. We ended up only having potatoes at the very bottom. The bright red potato is actually a tomato.

I didn't use the black container last year. This is a different black container here behind Mark. There is actually two and they hold blueberries. We moved the blueberries this year because the grapevine has taken over everything. I'm a little worried about the tops of the potato cages, but can't do anything about it at this point.

Potatoes

I have tried to grow potatoes on and off for a few years now. One time I planted them, but I planted too late for this area and got potatoes the size of olives. One time I planted them and it was extremely wet and they turned to mush. Last year I tried a new method where you put them in cages and then cover them alternately with hay and dirt. It wasn't anything amazing, but I did get potatoes. I had problems with them going all over the place though so this year when I went to hill them (yesterday) I used newspaper to try and contain the dirt a little better. I also snipped off anything that was going side ways. If I can find the pictures from last year I will try and post them later today.

I did put them in later than I should have this year put it didn't take them long to start growing at all and it seemed like it took forever last year. The ones in the black container started growing the fastest. We'll see how they turn out.

Looks who's 18!!!!!

It was after midnight and we had said our happy birthdays and then everyone had decided that Justin needed his present. Of course I didn't have a card yet. So I told him it would be a recycled card. "I don't care." He wouldn't tell us what he wanted and I felt that 18 was a big deal. Not to mention that not only has he earned his Eagle and his Duty to God, he will be graduating Seminary in May. He is a good kid and we are proud of him.

The inside of the recycled card was funny, but I can't post it until I clear it with my sister :)

Yipee!

Today we went to see "Alice in Wonderland" and ate at a Chinese Buffet (man this kid was expensive). When we got home we had cake and ice cream. He also got this blanket for his birthday. Fablehaven V is on order.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!!

CVS

Ok, yeah this is a weird picture to post, but I wanted to brag about how I paid $2.84 for everything in it. $2.84!!! I've been using coupons since November and one of the stores I go to is CVS, it is a pharmacy. Honestly their prices are very inflated and I rarely went there until last November. However they have good sales, combined with coupons (both manufactures and CVS) and my extra care bucks this type of deal can happen almost every week. Extra care bucks are used like money only at CVS.

My subtotal on this order was $21.18. Ragu and skippy were 3 for $5. If you bought $10 worth you got $3 ECB's. They had a special on the dove body wash. Buy one for $5.49 get $5.49 ECB's back, limit 2. I had coupons for everything in this picture. So I used a CVS coupon, manufactures coupons and ECB's to bring the total down. Not only did I only pay $284 I received $13.98 in ECB's to use on my next purchase.

Very cool :)
